ABOUT Dr. Jamillah Berry
Psychotherapist
Dr. Jamillah Berry, PhD, LLMSW, MSW, BS is a Psychotherapist with Holistic Therapy and Wellness. She serves children, adults, families, and the greater community. As a lifelong public servant, she is devoted to making a difference in the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Berry has had the privilege of working in the fields of public administration, public health, and social work. Born in Detroit, Michigan, she is proud to have graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1994 and Wayne State University in 2001.
In 2002, Dr. Berry relocated to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue a PhD in Social Work Administration with a centration in Public Health. After completion of her degree in December 2006, she joined the faculty of Morehouse School of Medicine. From July 2009 – January 2019, Dr. Berry had an opportunity to serve the Turks and Caicos Islands Government as the Health Planner within the Ministry of Health and Human Services. In 2017, she became a foster care parent of a 9-month-old baby girl.
By 2019, Dr. Berry returned home to Michigan to care for her mother who was diagnosed with early onset dementia. She also brought her foster daughter and petitioned for legal guardianship.
Dr. Berry has experience in the areas of mental health, trauma and abuse, substance use disorders, foster care/family reunification, and medical social work.
